Googol
In the 1940's, an American mathematician named Edward Kasner asked his nine-year-old nephew, Milton Sirotta, to give a name to the number 1 followed by one hundred zeros. "Googol," suggested Milton. That unimaginably huge number is now officially a googol. And the unimaginably large number of 10 raised to the power googol - which means 1 followed by ten zeros squared a hundred times - is a googolplex.
